Vienna International Dance Festival

Founded in 1984, ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival has over the years evolved into the largest festival for contemporary dance and performance in the world. Every summer it presents a uniquely diverse programme of performances, workshops, research projects and musical acts.

All 51 productions by 47 artists and companies can now be found online. The pre-sale starts on 12 June.

Every year ImPulsTanz presents more than 50 productions by international as well as Austrian artists and companies in an extraordinary density in the theatres and museums of Vienna.

The entire programme is online

All 51 productions by 47 artists and companies can now be found online and can be browsed at your leisure. The pre-sale starts on Wednesday 12 June – online, by telephone and at the box office.
The programme includes 9 world premieres, 37 Austrian premieres, 3 ImPulsTanz Classics and 11 pieces from the [8:tension] Young Choreographers’ Series. The festival also invites you to 6 film and music video programmes, 5 installations, a book presentation and every evening to the ImPulsTanz Festival Lounge in the Burgtheater Vestibül. And on 9 and 10 August there will be two celebrations in a row – at the ImPulsTanz Soçial Weekender at Arkadenhof at Vienna City Hall.

For the first time at ImPulsTanz

French choreographer Maud Le Pladec can be seen for the first time at ImPulsTanz with her piece Silent Legacy, in which 11-year-old Adeline Kerry Cruz and her mentor Jr Maddripp, who also teaches a workshop this year, take Krump to the stage. With Make Banana Cry, Andrew Tay and Stephen Thompson playfully and critically reckon with the Western concept of ‘being Asian’. And Lucy Guerin is a guest with a double feature of Split and How To Be Us.

WORKSHOPS & RESEARCH

157 international teachers and choreographers share their knowledge with beginners and professionals in 254 workshops and research projects at Arsenal.

New: 8 additional workshops

The ImPulsTanz 2024 workshops and research projects have been available to book since the end of April. Due to the high demand, we are now offering 8 additional workshops! For example, Angélique Willkie will be teaching Voice & Movement on techniques of voice and movement improvisation in the first week, Farah Deen will be introducing House Dance in two further classes and another Shake the Break workshop, Groove2Grow, by Markus Eggensperger for children aged 6 to 10 has been added to the broad programme.
